yea, and what happens when you feel overwhelmed by a life you don't like? Addiction, in various forms, in order to forget what pains you. It's terrible, and somehow, hard to break.

Working in a modern city, or company, is part of the problem. But what else can you do?

Having to endure the behavior of someone at work just to make a living, then how can you be calm?

You are all the time in fight or flight, and compulsive. This then feeds the addiction, because you can't stand this situation and need an escape.

Then loneliness hits as well, making you destabilized.

Yes, your description really nails how so many feel. And social media and consumer culture has trained our brains to looks for quick fixes but quick fixes don't change our lives because our brains take time to change. All the findings from neuroscience and psychology since brain scanning tech came out a few decades ago show that what we think changes what we do and how we feel. So to change our lives we have to start with changing our thinking. But the brain will resist at first so you have to stick with it for a few weeks before your brain rewires the new thoughts you want and undoes the old thinking you had.

Neuroscientist Dr. Leaf has some great free resources here on that:https://drleaf.com/

I also have a daily 1-Minute podcast you can watch or listen to as a fast but regular reminder about how powerful your thoughts are. You can get it here on substack or here: www.1MinuteWonder.com.

yes, it's so hard for men these days and especially boys since they don't have the male role models they used to. A lot of the civic institutions and community groups that used to help boys learn how to become men (like Boy Scouts etc) have been gutted and replaced by video games too.
