AI "Slop" and the Fast Food of the Mind
Last week I joined host Cary Dunst on NTD’s Good Morning show to talk about the newest frontier in artificial intelligence — and what it means for our minds. OpenAI just launched a new social media app called Sora 2, where users can type a short prompt and instantly generate ultra-realistic videos of themselves doing anything imaginable, from walking on the moon to performing for a stadium crowd.
It’s being called creative and democratizing, but as I explained on the show, it also opens a Pandora’s box of deepfakes, identity misuse, and what experts are now calling “AI slop”: endless, low-nutrient digital content that floods our feeds and dulls our capacity for real thought.
Cary and I discussed the good, the bad, and the ugly of this new AI-driven entertainment era, from its potential to replace entire production industries to its impact on our children’s mental health and attention spans.
If you’re curious about where all this is heading—and how to stay human in the middle of it—watch the full interview here.
